
For: New and existing Assessors who would like to become a NABERS Embodied Carbon Assessor. Particularly, quantity surveyors, construction professionals and sustainability professionals who are familiar with building products and building life-cycle assessments.
To: Become accredited to perform Embodied Carbon ratings for NABERS certification.
Prerequisite modules: No formal requirements, but please note that this course requires a solid understanding of building products and the ability to transform this data accurately for the rating calculator.
Learn: How to apply the NABERS methodology for consistent and comparable results, including how to:
- Measure the rated area of the premises
- Understand what building materials to include in a rating
- Allocate materials in areas that are shared with other buildings, to the rated premises
- Provide acceptable evidence for what material were used in the building
- Use product-specific emission factors
- Use default emission factors, if you don’t have evidence of what specific product was used
- Claim carbon removals against eligible materials
- Collect evidence for transport emissions
- Collect evidence for construction and commissioning energy and waste emissions
- Identify and measure greenfield area for Land Use and Land Use Change (LULUC) emissions
When: The live webinars will run from 13:00 – 16:30 AEST on the 28th and 29th April. The optional drop-in question session will run from 13:00 – 15:00 on the 6th of May.
Format: Live virtual training.
Assessment: Multiple choice exam to be submitted within 30 days.
Access: Once enrolled, you’ll have access to the course for a year.
Resources: You will be provided with the NABERS Embodied Carbon excel calculator to complete the worked examples for this course.
Supervision: Your first embodied carbon rating application will be supervised. This is a key part of the NABERS training program. The cost of the supervision is included in your enrolment fee.
